PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SPECIALTY NATURAL RUBBER LATEX CONCENTRATE

ABSTRACT Conventionally, specialty natural rubber (SpNR) latex, namely, deproteinized (DPNR) latex and epoxidized (ENR) are prepared from low ammonia (LATZ) causing high material cost. To address this issue, the objective of study is to prepare SpNR directly freshly tapped NR latex. In work, DPNR via a heat enzymatic hydrolysis process, while ENR in situ epoxidation chemical modification process. addition, both were concentrated 60% total solid content ultrafiltration process using membrane separation technology. Physiochemical properties DPNR, ENR, LATZ compared. Results show that content, dry alkalinity level latexes achieved targeted value. This also found nitrogen at 0.11%, 0.29%, 0.25%, respectively, indicating successful deproteinization On other hand, produced was 46.3%, which slightly lower than 50%. Rheological studies exhibits highest viscosity, followed by LATZ, but all characteristic shear-thinning behavior. more liquid-like nature, behaves like an elastic solid. Non-ionic surfactants play major role influencing flow deformation behavior
